Abigail Moore, MHC-I
As a clinical mental health counselor, I work from the cognitive model of behavior and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to teach clients about the relationship between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I use a person-centered approach to identify my client’s strengths and how they can be utilized in their therapeutic process. I believe each client has the ability to learn new skills and empower themselves to grow. I help to highlight those inner strengths, as well as be a guide and provide ideas for managing difficult thoughts and emotions.
I practice CBT skills with my clients in sessions so that they are better able to utilize these on their own outside of sessions. I value a client’s autonomy and have a passion for empowering others. This passion was expanded upon through my experience as a student intern with Title IX at SUNY Oswego, raising awareness for sexual and interpersonal violence and helping survivors overcome it.
I also bring creative methods of processing into sessions, such as writing, poetry, drawing, and coloring, to help clients express and process deeper emotions. In my free time, some of my hobbies include crocheting, reading, writing, swimming, and taking walks. I also enjoy listening to music, playing video games, and rewatching my favorite TV show, Supernatural!
